boardman pro hybrid wheelset upgrade

Post by macson »

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and hoping for a quick bit of advice. I have a Boardman Pro Hybrid with Ritchey Pro rims on Formula hubs. I have a long commute to work (17 miles each way across London) and was thinking about upgrading my wheelset. In short would spending about £250 be a worthwhile upgrade? I was thinking about something like Prime Baroudeur Road Disc wheelset (if they fit?). I'm getting myself more and more confused using Google so was hoping for someone to clear my head - basically would an upgrade at that price be noticeably faster/better than my wheelset?

Ignore 'Pro" rim - they are 12 years old and are these - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/323471780479 ... Sww6ZbrfQP

Lighter tyres is where to start if you want to go faster for the same effort.

I'm running on GP4000 at present - can;t afford a better bike so was looking for a more budget worthwhile upgrade. Change my tyres, go tubeless (I'd still need new wheels) Just don;t want to spend a load of money for no noticeable gain?

Your tyres are as good as they get...

Seem like a worthwhile upgrade. 500+gms on stock wheels
