Richey Zero System Freehub

Post by jimlews »

I have one of the above that has significant wobble of the freehub body.
I would like to reduce or preferably eliminate this.

In a conventional freewheel, it is a relatively simple matter of removing an appropriate number of shims.

However, this Richey freehub uses sealed bearings and it is not clear to me how the thing comes apart.

Does anyone have experience of these or similar design freehub who can offer guidance.

I've started to dismantle; so far I've removed the axle lock nut and washer.
I'm now confronted with a lip seal that is attached somehow to a rubber(?) washer.
The splined outer freehub component is threaded internally and it looks as if the rubber washer engages with this thread.
However there are no tool engagement points to suggest that the washer unscrews. Should I prise it out (and risk destroying it)?
I am experiencing some trepidation about proceeding further. I don't want to break anything. But it is not usable as is.

I would be most grateful for any words of wisdom.
