Last time i looked renolds olympic track chains were about 250 quid. I dread to think what they want for these.

British cycling must have discovered those Dura ace items in the bottom drawer, lost since the 1980's.

Great, another thing the manufacturers can claim to be better, certainly a way to increase the cost of a chain.
I'm sure all the Sunday warriors will be rushing out to buy them if and when they are marketed.

The Dura-Ace components were 10mm pitch. From what I've read, this new stuff is 3/8" pitch, so slightly smaller. If Shimano with their clout couldn't make the 10mm stuff a success commercially, I can't see this succeeding either.

The 10mm Dura-Ace still turns up occasionally for sale on places like fleabay.

Theres not much difference between 3/8" and 10mm. When the 3/8" chain stretches you could sell it on as a 10 mm one. 3/8 is 9.53 mm.
Its possible the shimano 10mm chains are 3/8" as this is the standard chain size, and shimano referred to them as 10mm to make them sound new. Anyone have a shimano chain to check.

Have you got confused? In what sense is 3/8 the standard chain size? There are plenty of metric roller chains in industrial use.

British standard / ISO chain? https://lmgtfy.app/?q=metric+roller+chain
Metric roller chain, also known as ISO British Standard roller chain, is engineered to different specifications than ANSI/ASME Standard roller chain
