Dura ace c24 wheels.

Post by Jamesh »

I had a moment of madness and brought a pair of Dura ace c24 wheels!

At £75 they were hardly expensive and a good 500g lighter than my go to rs10 wheels.

Anyone got a pair or used a pair?

I like Shimano hubs and also alloy rims being in yorkshire so they seem ideal!

Hi

Just an update

Finally picked up the wheels from my sister's.

Had a little ride out on them on Monday 20miles and 4 good hills.

They are quicker to accelerate than my previous wheels ambro p20, rs10, Reynolds solitudes, they carry the speed better over rolling countryside.

Comfort wise they are more comfortable than the p20 / solitudes similar to the rs10 surprise surprise. They came with gp4000 rear and GP 4 season tyres which are similar to my wiggle race tyres.

Definitely a good buy if your wanting a nice set of summer wheels. I got them for £75 which is a normal price for rs10 / fulcrum 7 but 500gms lighter!

I bought similar wheels (pre-owned) back in 2010 for £100. You got yourself a bargain.

Yes I've been using the C24 tubeless since 2016

Very happy with them, only issue I had related to the tubeless valve, if you are using tubeless make sure you use a valve that fits the channel correctly.

Where did you buy them from
I only ask as I have just had a rim failure due to over cooking brakes on a long decent ....the wheel is a write off that cannot be repaired so I need to replace it
Thanks

Ç24 durace front rim only is also sat
SJS for 150ish .
I then have to reclaim hubs spokes and pay for a wheel rebuild
I have been constantly searching web for around 3 weeks with no luck on a bargain ....gutted I missed the advert that you jumped on
Hopefully they have some left
So.please share your source of supply
Thanks

Theres few pics of my damaged rim on C24s
I think this happened on a long decent overheating the rims..these rims expanded slightly and pulled out the spoke
A reputable carbon repair shop said its irreparable as the spokes n nipple not long enough to get in again
Anyway I now feel duped by shimano marketing these as carbon wheels when the "carbon " part is nothing more than a layer if black electricians tape wrapped round an alloy
I wrongly assumed the black part to be solid carbon and bonded onto the alloy brake surface
How can shimano get away with this

Ouch that's not good.

Think I'll keep mine for best and local rides.

I'll use the rs10 for long rides.....
