Is there a good online cheap bike parts site?

Post by jimster99 »

Hi all,

I live in London and have been using Decathlon for bike parts but they're not that cheap (although not terrible either). Is there a good online bike part specialist site (like wemoto for motorbikes) that anyone can recommend? Or just ebay (which is OK but I find it's hard to tell whether the parts are reliable). There's also Alibaba but I haven't been brave enough to try that yet!

Thanks!!

It depends what you are trying to buy. If it is up to the minute parts, then I doubt it. For general stuff I have been known to use. https://www.bankruptbikeparts.co.uk/ who also have an eBay site. Their website is a bit slow and tedious, but no fuss if you know what you are looking for.

I don't think you'll find anywhere that's consistently cheaper than everywhere else, you just have to shop around for the best price on whatever it is that you want. Some of the ones I've used over the years:

Wiggle
Chain Reaction
Spa Cycles
St John St Cycles
J E James
Surosa
Rutland Cycles

At a time when the exchange rate was favourable Rose Versand used to be about a third cheaper than buying in the UK, but they've decided that Brexit isn't worth the bother now anyway.

This site is worth looking at when your buying to see what offers may be about.
