Sold Secure Diamond

Post by PH »

Following a link from another thread, I was surprised to see a lock rated as SS Diamond, something I hadn't come across before.
A quick search and it seems there were too many Gold locks and that classification covered too wide a range of security, so the new classification is the better of the Gold locks rather than some new development in lock security.
There's a list of those locks so far re-classified that might be useful to anyone looking to buy, some of these may still be being sold as Gold due to stock turnover. But from what I understand, if it's on the list it's classed as Diamond, regardless of what it was classed as when you bought it. I'm glad to see my Kryptonite lock is, though my older Squire lock isn't. Not surprising, it was always obvious one was better than the other. Only downside might be if those insurers who specify locks decide to upgrade the requirement.
