I think the information on the hub is non existent because the hub doesn't exist other than in a Cube spec sheet. If it isn't listed by Shimano or Sheldon, then that's a pretty safe bet.
I've been saying "Al-feen" for years, too stuck in my ways to change now
Mine is al Al-fine and very fine it is too.

The SG-S700 8-speed is listed by Shimano, but it is literally a one line reference in an otherwise 11-speed focused page. Beyond this page, references to it barely seem to exist...

https://bike.shimano.com/en-EU/product/ ... -S700.html
Where?
All I can find there is details of an 11 speed SG-S700
Where it says:
Gear ratio: 409% (8-speed: 306%)
I'm pretty sure that's just comparing it with all Shimano 8 speed hubs, rather than an 8 speed S-700

It's just a thought, but a frequent response to any sort of issue with any sort of Alfine is the replacement of the whole cluster. I wouldn't mind betting that most of the clusters fit in most of the shells !
My view re pronunciation is that I myself am very keen to pronounce (and spell - but that's a harder challenge, at least for me!) words properly, however I'm less precious about brand names. If Shimano really want us all to say Al-fee-nay then they should work harder to that aim via their marketing tools. I tend to say/write Al-fee-nay, more as an amusement than a real attempt to win round the public, just as I say Lee-dal, when referring the popular German discount grocer brand etc. etc..
I remember being momentarily confused by an aquaintance when discussing his 5-speed racer which he said was fitted with Hurr-At, as opposed to He-yoo-ray gears.

i think there is very little cross compatability between the shells. Which is very annoying.

I don't think the SG-S700 '8 speed' exists and would bet on the Cube spec sheet being wrong and it actually being a SG-S7000-8. Hopefully the OP gets a response and updates.

Wouldn't be surprised if you're right there - I'm going after a Cube Editor now, but I'll try to get to the bottom of this with Cube anyway, and post back any findings!

Yes, my mistake.
