I've never seen refillable co2 canisters but I bought my last lot of canisters from http://www.tyreinflators.co.uk. Fair price and very quick delivery.

NONE!

Canned air is surely even more of a stupid waste of money and resources than bottled water!

They're sooo pre-global-warming-eco-credit-crunch, don't you think?

You're not actually wrong, CJ, but I use and Innovations Air Chuck and am very pleased with it, waste or otherwise.

The CO2 canisters are recycle-able.

Light, small, effective and will fill two of my 20mm 700c tyres.

Not if it's dark, raining and you are almost out of time on an Audax :)

My first 200km Audax was completed in 12 hrs 59 mins on a tandem trike including 7 punctures and a broken chain rivet tool - I'm with CJ on this one. What is wrong with a bicycle pump anyway?

Some bikes have nowhere to carry one, and mini-pumps are pretty hopeless.

The Truflo one is very good. It screws positively onto the valve and has a controllable release wheel. The push-on sort sold by Wilko and Halfords are less controllable and the last one I tried refused to release any gas at all, so it's lucky I tried it at home first.

A 16g cartridge will get a 700 x 23 tyre plenty hard enough.
