8/9 Speed Freehubs
SJSC list different freehubs, depending on which hub they are to fit. This was a surprise, I had assumed that they were universal, and only differed between 8 and 9 speed. If I want to change my C201 from 8 to 9 speed by changing just the freehub, can I do it, or do I have to change the whole hub?

In the Shimano system, 8 & 9 speed cassettes fit on the same freehub. (Not in Campag, but we don't need to go there!)
If some Shimano hubs are marketed as 8-speed, that's either because they are old stock (before 9-speed came along, and SJSC are big in old stock, sometimes very old but very nice) or because they are part of a cheaper groupset where the standard cassette and shifters are 8-speed. A 9-speed cassette will fit just fine.
