Are there compatibility issues between Stronglight Impact triple chainsets and shimano 10 speed? My narrow 10 speed chain can get stuck between the chainrings and shifting always seems to require a lot of movement/pressure for the front mech. Are these chainsets designed for 9 speed?
If so, does anyone do a 10 speed shimano compatible chainset that's broadly in the range of something like 30/38/48 (i.e suitable for steady pace on long rides over hills) and with 165mm cranks that would be MORE suitable? Campag and Shimano road all seem to be set up for road race speeds (50-53 cog large chainring) and my LBS tell me that shimano mountain-bike chainsets are designed for 9 speed not 10 and would require me to replace my 105 to Tiagra shifters, rear mech etc to get it to work.

That says the current Impact triple is 9/10 speed. (Was there an earlier version? - Spa Cycles is the place to ask.)

Re: Stronglight chainset and 10 speed
Mine are marked "9/10speed", but if you really want to be certain Stronglight also do a "Speedlight" chainset which takes a Campag style ISO square taper bottom bracket axle. I'm running one of those with a 10 speed set up on the 953 and it works perfectly. 48/38/26 X 11-26. The mechs/shifters are Campag Chorus triple/longarm from 2006, the hubs are modified Ultegra (I don't like overdished wheels with 130mm axles) and the cassette & chain are SRAM. Indexing by Shiftmate.
If at first you don't succeed - cheat!!
