Moulton APB, in two halves.

Post by Mikes5762 »

Hi,

Being an old crinkly, I would be grateful if anyone can offer some trade secrets in how to efficiently re-attach my bike's two halves with one pair of hands, and maybe only a wall to support anything. The two halves shake, rattle & roll before I'm able to guide the frame pin into where it's supposed to go.

cheers

Dave, try the Moulton club site for advice. I think it's www.moultoneers.co.uk

The forum for Moultoneers is:

I had a separable Moulton APB for a while but I never came up with the perfect way of re-attaching the two halves. At best I would say to have both halves upright, hold them each in one hand close to the joint, lift the two halves up fairly high at the the point you are holding them, then engage the bottom connection and drop the the two halves down to let the joint sit together. Then slip the top bolt through whilst holding the two halves together by the way they lean together plus some support from your free hand. Once the bolt is in place the halves will stay together and you can tighten the bolt and bottom joint.

HTH!
