Lightweight headset spanners
Re: Lightweight headset spanners
Sorry!
Actually, I asked a week or so ago, but Paul hadn't been in touch with his laser cutting mate. Also, we've been away in Malta.
The idea has not been forgotten, and I'll prod Paul again this week.
I will return. (as that American chap once said.)

Cheers for the update!
Not to worry, the closer to xmas, the more special it will feel.

Re: Lightweight headset spanners
I always have a weeny Bahco 6" adjustable with me, the jaws will open wide enough to deal with a 1" headset, and it can be used on other parts of the bike too. It doesn't weigh much either but does cost about 30 quid.

Got hold of Paul, and he's emailed this design:(Click for better view)
Any takers?
Top class laser cut SS.
£5 including postage.
I know Tako wants one, anyone else?
Also, the jaw-width can be changed for a different size if you want.
He's added some little nibs at the front of the jaw to help stop the spanner slipping off.Any takers?

Ok George!
I'll get back to Paul over the next few days, and hopefully there'll be a few orders.
I'll get back to this thread soon, meanwhile keep the orders coming in!

Re: Lightweight headset spanners
All posts recorded, and I'll see paul this week and put in the orders.
So far we have:
Tako 1x 32mm ....... or do you want x2 as you asked previously for one?
MikewsMITH2 1x30mm, 1x32mm and 1x36mm
georgew 1x 32mm
Just reply if that's right or not right.
Ta!

Is it too late to get one of these? If possible I'd like 1x32mm and 1x36mm
Thanks!
Thanks!
Re: Lightweight headset spanners
You're on the list, Andy!
I'll give it a few days before finalising, but no doubt there can be another run of production.

Re: Lightweight headset spanners
Give it a few days, I'll get a list together and PM everyone who wants one with my address etc. meanwhile I'll get back to Paul.
He emailed me this morning:
Mick,
Glad to hear the orders are flooding in.
Here is a new picture for you in 3D!
Also the other spanners with sizes.
Let me know when you get some quantities and I'll get the ball rolling.
Paul
This CAD stuff is great. All done with a few clicks of a mouse and the roll of the mouse!

Excellent work. I remeber trying to DIY something like this but was unable to get good accuracy.
Are people planning g on using this for the headset cup or lock nuct or one for each?
