Old tubing

Does anyone know anything about EUUT tubing from the fifties/sixties?
Some british manufacturers used it but I know nothing about it.
How good was it etc.?

Are you sure that's a double "U" and not a "W"? If the latter it likely stands for Electrically Welded Tube which would describe the standard high-tensile carbon-steel tube, formed by rolling and continuously welding strip steel, that the majority of middling quality bikes were made from in that era. A step up from mild steel but not so good as seamless alloy steel such as Reynolds 531.
