Specialised Bike - should I buy it???

Post by island girl »

Hi
I do a fair bit of touring mostly on roads but sometimes on cycle paths. I have done LEJOG and CtoC so carry panniers, I am a lightweight at 8stone. Thinking of buying the Specialised Vita Sport (see link below) below as I want a lighter bike but wonder if it is sturdy enough. My present bike a Pinnacle hybrid is so reliable but a bit sluggish and heavy at14.5 kg. The Vita has similiar gearing which I want but at 10.2 kg is more sharp. Should I just go for it. Grateful for any advise.

mini V brakes - you might have trouble getting mud guards in there, best to have a look at one in person and see.

Not sure if the funny fork will take a low rider pannier rack?

But the specification doesn't look too bad, it'll take a rear rack, tyres are a good width for your weight and for light off road.

See if you can get a test ride before spending money - doesn't matter how good the specification is if it doesn't feel comfortable!

Thanks Si. i maybe should have been more specific. I only use rear panniers and don't fix mudguards so I will do as you suggest and have a test drive. To be honest I am more concerned about punctures in the middle of nowhere than anything else.
