In an earlier thread on the same subject, I had recommended the SJS Zoom post and was promptly shot down by a couple of people who claimed, presumably just from looking at a photo, that it didn't have any more layback than a Kalloy..............

I think your recollection may be faulty.

Hello Colin. Sounds like you're enjoying retirement, lucky you. Now hang on a minute. A few posts back, I believe Brucey pointed out that your hockey stick post would actually have even less layback than what you were claiming. Sometimes photos can be misleading I guess. In the old thread that you've dredged up, I was the one who recommended the Zoom seatpost in the first place. I said then that it offered an additional 15mm (actually closer to 20mm) layback compared with a modern Campagnolo seatpost, which has a fairly standard amount of layback, and so seemed a good cheap fix for anyone who can't get their Brooks back far enough. You seem to agree with me now that the Zoom post has a lot of layback (but a crappy clamp), so can we please leave it at that?

Right, I stole this from Kingston Customs FB page.

Looks like it will do exactly what you want. no idea where he got it from, or what it is...

Cheers

Vlad

edit: mind you, it looks like he made it, it's got a braze on support and the whole thing looks welded (although nicely welded, mind!)

I realise this is an old thread, but i did not want to start one on the same subject.

Chain reaction no longer have the Truvativ Hussefelt Seatpost Single Clamp 2012 in a 27.2, other than the VO post is there anything else out there?

I like the idea of the VK adaptor its just the aesthetics that don't do it for me.

thanks

Ok, that's fine, as long as its only me that's confused, I'm used to it!..

Talking of confusion, is there an accepted way to measure seatpost setback? Engineers usually measure stuff centre to centre, but if you measure seatpost setback from the centre of the post to the centre of the clamp, then I think that will vary depending on the seat tube angle, and you could have 2 posts with 25mm setback, but the one with a 20mm wide clamp will put the saddle 10mm further back than the one with a 40mm wide clamp....?? :?

Do you mean the VK or the seatpost?
I don't ride Brooks, but if you post your saddle height from BDC of the crank inline with the seatpost
Your ideal setback from the nose of the saddle to the centre of the BB axle/spindle with the bike on level ground
The seatube angle on your frame.
I can tell you if a 25mm layback seatpost can handle it.

The VK will definitely get you a lot further back than any layback seatpost.
