Road Bike Which one?

Postby Mansfield Marauder » 13 Jun 2010, 5:05pm

I looking at replacing my Salcano Ilgaz with something more suitable for riding on roads and commuting. I have a budget of £300 not much I know before the Ilgaz my previous bike was a John Atkins (if anyone has ever heard of him) So my knowledge of modern bikes is a bit restricted any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I was after a budget road bike recently at that price. Here's my thread.

Check out the Decathlon B-Twin sport as well, excellent value. Didn't buy in the end I offered to go 50% with my son but he decided to buy computer games instead.

Road bikes under £300, the Dawes Giro 200 and Claud Butler Criterium for example, make the price point by avoiding integrated shifters. The Decathlon is the only one (I know) that includes them.
The Criterium has bar mounted Shimano AO 50 butterfly shifters. I don't know anything about these but they look like they could have touring applications?
