Servicing my Rohloff (ideally in SE England)

Post by Slimtim »

Hello

Is there a company (or maybe a CTC member or friend of a member) who can service Rohloff hubs? I need to change the seals and sprocket on mine but don't particularly want to send it to Thorn or Germany.

Are there any other options (also, I don't want to buy £1M worth of tools to do it myself!).

Thanks in advance for any offers/advice.

If you don't want to do it yourself (and its not difficult), take it to your local decent bike shop and ask them? Sprocket change is easy, not sure why you need to change the seals though?

Thanks for the reply.

I could remove the sprocket but don't want to buy the expensive tool required to hold the hub static while the chainwhip is applied.

The hub currently leaks more oil than the description of typical leakage suggests is acceptable. I believe that it is only the paper seal that needs replacing (which I have) but I don't feel confident to do the work myself....hence my original question.

You could try Downland Cycles in Canterbury : http://www.downlandcycles.co.uk/hubServicing.htm
I've not tried them myself, but they sell and service Rohloff hubs.

Good Luck,
Kim.
