I've weld repaired many frames with that exact kind of break. Once the weld repair is dressed the resultant repair is very strong, stronger than the original in all likelihood, since you can make it without any geometric stress concentration where the section of the parts is thinnest.

cheers

Very nice: looks like a dynamo hub at the front; looks like Shimano; which one?

You can't go wrong with bar end levers.

sort of but not quite. Modified o gauge track to represent a 2 and a bit ft narrowgauge at 14mm:ft.

Alas the cats have pulled the track up in places.

Hello all,

>> (see Page 11 post update) <<

New to the forum, and have been reading up on this topic with great interest. May I ask if anyone knows the BB drop on these 1-Down frames, and the BB clearance from rim on the floor to bottom of shell (ie. clearance without tyres). Thanks.

If you look at photos online you'll see the chainstays are practically horizontal so BB drop (as with most 26in wheel bikes) is minimal no more than 1 to 1.5cm.
If you look at 26inch/559rim radious and add the intended tyre height to it it will give you a BB height from the ground to within say a 1cm.

Thanks for the replies - I'm asking as I'm wondering whether it's worth building one up for my needs. The BB height is going to be important as it's for a touring bike (hopping on/off the saddle too much aggravates an old back injury - yet clearance always helps...trying to achieve the golden impossible no doubt!)

If anyone has the time, I'd be most grateful for the measurement. Your builds look great! :D

Hi reohn,

Thanks for your help - outside diameter (and width whilst we're at it!). Please see my page 11 post for summary.
