Blackburn EX1 rack to use with coPilot child seat

Post by kelinbrusselsland »

I'm having a bit of a dilema here... basically i brought a second hand CoPilot child seat together with the above rack to go on my Giant Revel 3 bike. One slight problem is that the rack doesn't seem to fit on the bike... It has the two eyelets down where the gears are but nothing underneath the seat. What can i do to fix this? I thought that possibly i could use the seat clamp to thread the rack metal rods through as that obviously has two eyelets but the bolt/leaver isn't long enough and i'm not sure that this would be the correct thing to do anyhow..

I'm not very good with this sort of thing - any ideas?

Maybe something like this?

I am sure I have seen similar products if this one is not quite right.

Good luck!

According to the instruction manual, bikes without seat stay braze-on mounts should use seat stay clamps (included). http://www.bikedock.com/custom/pdf/08/C ... manual.pdf

Blackburn & CoPilot are both made by the Bell Sports group. I would give them a call. I recently bought a used seat and new rack, called them several times for advice, parts, etc. I have found them to be very helpful. The phone number is in the manual linked above.

I believe that Madison Cycles distributes their parts in the UK. Once you have a part number, any cycle shop can order the parts from Madison Cycles. I don't imagine that the seat stay clamps will cost much.

Good luck!
