Aero / TT Bars

Post by paulcuthbert »

Hi,

I've tended to ride with my forearms resting on the middle of the bars lately, and seem to be getting places quicker - so I was thinking about investing in a set of clip-on Aero / TT bars.

Me being me, I don't know where to start!

Does anyone have any advice / recommendations on what to look for and what to avoid, etc?

Thanks

this might sounds stupid, but do make sure they fit your bike!

-also; if you have arm rests positioned for optimum comfort, they will often be behind the line of the handlebar. You may be suprised at how easily they will foul your knees when riding out of the saddle e.g. when climbing. Although they may look like an unnecessary complication, spring-loaded retracting armrests are a good idea if such fouling will otherwise occur.

cheers

IIRC Planet-X had NOS cinelli bars (in 'exciting' colours) quite recently. I don't know if they still have them or not.

Alternatively, Profile century bars are about the cheapest clip-on tribars. they a designed for 32mm bars, but have shims for 26 mm bars. Theyu do take up quite a bit of room though. Profile also do some that have flip up armrests to give you a bit more room when not riding in an aero tuck.
