I got a few of them, but not the majority.

But it get me thinking. What do we have in our own sheds, garages and workshops? How about our own quiz?

I do not expect it will take long for the assembled wisdom of the forum to crack these, especially the one on the right which I've posted on the boards a few times before. The three objects on the left comprise a single tool.

So same rules as Brucey's link. You need to give the real purpose/function of the tool (and make / model number if you feel up to it :wink: ) but feel free to provide anecdotes and stories to go with them.

Good luck.

ooh, from left to right I think IIRC;

-don't know :oops: [edit; is it a bearing/bearing cup extractor?]
-VAR tyre tool {the first time I saw one I had to have it explained to me....}
-SunTour XC hub cone adjustment spanner

I knew it wouldn't take long, although Brucey had to think about the first one for a bit.

Suntour TA-340 Cartridge bearing removal/installation tool. Also useful for removing cups from Campag hubs.
Simson Tyre Mate. A bit more "workshop" than the standard pocket sized VAR lever.
Suntour XC cone spanner TA-260. It does 30mm Suntour headsets and 17mm locknuts too.

Edit - Found a part no. for the cone spanner :D .

I’ll take a very…..very rough guess at No 2 Brucey.

Old type outer cable ferrule pinning/crimp clamp.

Brucey's No 1 is to remove/fit conical shaped bearing shields/retainers....can't remember the hub make....the shields have slots the spanner pins fit into.

edit...Mavic hubs?

No 2 is a guess...to crimp up rim eyelets.....can't think of another reason to make it that shape, it needs to reach into the rim well.

Well IMO

1. Reminds me of a cone spanner :wink: , although it's difficult to judge scale so fixed wheel lockrings also come to mind. I know nothing of hubgears but it also wouldn't surprise me if this fits some widget or other on a Sturmey cocoa tin.

2. Cable stretching pliers

3. Definetley a mystery.
