New Crankset for my Carrera Subway

Post by borderer »

I have a Carrera Subway with a Suntour XCT 8 speed triple crankset. I would like to do some full loaded touring on it and as such would like to swap the crankset for a 42/32/22. Would anyone know if this would be suitable...

Or could you recommend something else?
Many thanks

IIRC the suntour chainsets fitted to subways often use an odd axle length, so you should normally budget for a new BB to match your new chainset.

Personally I would prefer a 'road' chainline (and reduced Q value) anyway, but if you start down this path you may wind up needing a new front mech.... and so it goes on.

cheers

I've just ordered one of those myself :)
It recommends a 122mm BB axle length,if your front mech is a Shimano MTB one there's every chance it'll work with the correct BB length or perhaps some 2 to 4 either side of recommended IME.
