Of course most people less than average male height are female.....
True but as half of men (assuming a normal height distribution) are less than average height, most people in total are less than male average height.
I hadn't thought about it like that, but of course you are right....and it makes the problem of getting (carbon) forks with more offset than 45mm even more absurd.

Going back to the original thread.

Does anyone build "racing/touring" bikes with a step through frame?

Apart from shoppers, most ladies/gents bikes seem to be variants on the same theme.

At the moment I have to lay the bike almost horizontal to get my leg over, climbing on or off.
This is IMHO far more than a drop seat post would accommodate.

You could try the lady at Beaument Bicycle at Bishops Castle.

I have seen her story on TV a couple of times.

Ex: Physio I think.

You can find her by Googling.

Hope this helps.

Further information her name is Elizabeth Colebrook, the website is very informative, she seems to have a tie up with Flying Gate Bicycles and has her name on some Flying Gate frames. Probably worth an email or phone call.

Brick Lane, eh?
Used to go past there every month or so pre Covid.
Tempting to arrange a test ride if I ever start travelling again, but I haven't ridden a bike in London so a test ride might be "interesting".

If you can go to Brick Lane on a Saturday at 9am, it's empty, there's a range of surfaces nearby to test ride on and you can get a Beigel.

Sorry, late to this party - saint john street cycles produce step through frame, which looks amazingly rigid, and has disc mounts... I'm trying to save up for one before my hip mobility reduces further...

That said they don't do too many sizes, and I may be too big for such a frame...

Just had a look at their web site and couldn't see one apart from a Brompton.
Do you have a link, please?

That looks to be the last of a discontinued model.
There's a step through version of the Nomad, you can see it in the brochure here
