Does Thee Grease Thy QR Skewers?

I used to, but aren't all QR skewers these days rust-proof? Yes, such considerations do matter in life! What do you do?

No the skewers are not rustproof.

I now grease them when I remember, which is normally after finding one gone rusty.

Yes even the titanium ones. The inner face of the axle can still rust and make a Ti skewer difficult to remove.

Yes, just a small smear of grease along the shaft and thread though my new bike hasn't been treated yet.

I guess there is case if the wheel axle is a steel one.

Mine are greased, but I can't remember when I cleaned them off and put new grease on them. The threads on the thumb knob are greased and the springs too plus the shaft, but I've never touched the QR cam mechanism.

I stickest mine into the copper grease tub in the first instance,thenst into yon hollowed axle.
Therebye it smearest alongst it's length.

Hi,
I wipe off old grease, and around the cam/lever area, working the lever back clean then forth clean with smooth rag, I would'nt try to degrease as washing out the lube and leaving some agent where grease should be....NO.

Then smear grease around the lever cam (thats at entry points into body) worrk and wiggle the lever several times and remove excess.
Smear a little up and down the rod but not on the thread, I dont like lots of lube on there as the locking washer (plastic) in the nut needs to grip the thread.

The cam is metal to metal so needs some lube.

Twice a year maybe as I always wipe off old grease if you remove the skewer from axel and its a bit dirty etc, I then just regrease the rod.

Yes, but lightly as my hub (rohloff) has a breather hole which needs to be kept clear. Don't know how widespread this is.
