Due to the EU equivalence clause a rear German approved lamp should satisfy the need for an approved lamp (at least until case law said otherwise (hopefully unlikely)):
but I seem to remember the DFT unhelpfully commenting on the EU equivalence clause that they thought a lamp should be equivalent in safety on all counts (i.e. presumably, in their opinion, just their opinion, rear lamps need a 4cd min (like BS) not the 2.5cd min of German approval).
However, a German approved rear lamp that also claims Dutch (NL) RKF-3 will meet or exceed 4 cd so perhaps that is the most iron-clad way of ensuring EU equivalence approval?
