To me it points directly at the isospeed combined with where ever the bottom of the seat post touches tags against the upright on the main frame. If that position was a welded joint I now believe this wouldn't happen. Really not got confidence on the isospeed now if I get a like for like replacement

I can't seem to find any evidence of the carbon versions breaking. I did ask the sales person at time of purchase how can aluminium flex?

Hope Bench figures out how to get a picture up soon. I'm taking evidence of all pics I've found ont tinternet with me. Ready for when they say they've never seen or heard off before. Using Taptalk is easy to upload pics from my iPad.

What model year is it? I seem to recall that they made some changes in the Alu models in the second year of production.

Yeah I think the original ones were red and white so this is a redesigned one. Which is not encouraging.

How come we can all see this is a poor design (even more so the 'fix' of welding the other part on) yet Trek didn't spot it? Don't manufacturers do any durability testing these days?
 That's another thing worth noting - If things get messy ask for the results from the durability testing! Bet they haven't got any.

Now how would a carbon frame go would it shatter or tare? Would it flex better as alli would eventually loss it's elasticity and go like this
I'm a big lump and can guarantee that will happen to again on a similar frame bought in early august and done about 1000 miles

do Trek own up to what heat treatment is done on these frames? You can't make a bad weld good this way, but you can make a good weld bad....

Trek weight limit for road frames is 275lbs. I can guess what they will say to you but then they knew your weight when they sold it to you?

But if yours had gone at 13 stone (182 lbs) that's way under the breaking strain and on the max figure there are Jesus factors built in.

Just had a look down the seat tube with a torch. It isn't possible to see where any join is. What appears to be a line in the pic is the point it flares out after gripping the seat postImage

RE weight, at least you are now know the evidence you have
