John is cycling from California to Washington. In his back pack is a Caesium atomic clock which counts in splits of nanoseconds.Heading the exact opposite way Washington to California is his identical twin James also with a clock.
Does anyone know if John has an advantage cycling from west to east?
*************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Background: The ground and atmosphere rotate at 1667kmph.West to East. There is an Equatorial bulge compared to the poles. This is due to the centrifugal force. I suspect in reality there is no actual advantage due to centrifugal force but can't figure out why. The reason that the twins are starting on opposite sides is that John trails behind and gets the drag effect. While James steals all the chocolate eclairs.

California? USA?
Washington is in UK just south of Newcastle.
Not only has this cyclist got to ride right across USA, he has to ride round and round and round a ship on it's way east across the Atlantic, then from the port of entry to the NE of England.
Have you taken all this into consideration?

There's a California just outside Falkirk as I recall

What kind of advantage do you mean? Technically there's no such thing as centrifugal force, but in any case it would be orthogonal to the direction of travel, so it wouldn't have an effect. Unless there's something really complicated that I've missed.
Of course, travelling with the sun you'd get a fractionally longer day to ride in
