Hi, People who say that "Scotch Pies" are nice? That stretches credibility too far! MM

I don't use the word 'nice'. But give me a good old mutton pie made by an award winning butcher - not supermarket c**p - and I will be in heaven.

I had a pasty in Wiltshire once; it had carrot in it.

Having said that, the lardy cakes from the baker (up the hill) in Frome (Somerset) are to die for - the stickiest, gooiest, tastiest, and unresistable-est that I've ever found - if one could get those on the NHS, everyone would be feeling much happier.

Sad news from Liskeard: Blake's the bakers have closed. I'll have to go down to Irene's in Halsetown now to get a decent bun (Irene is an ex-neighbour of ours, still baking at 87). Never fear, I still have her recipe for Chocolate Devil Cake - yum!

Happy days,
Give me another pasty, quick .....jpg
