If X roads (or T junction) are eligible then I could use the photo I was going to post as A,B,(C?!),
or D as an X.

Why it's called a "cross" I have no idea.
There's a crossroads called Example Cross up the B3257 not far north of here.
It's a bend in the road, but way back in the past, it was a crossroads.

It's only when you look at the old map and the modern satellite view side-by-side, that you see the way wot like it used to was.
