Last time I was in Bakewell, which is quite a while ago I admit, I dined in the Bakewell Pudding Shop.

Edit.

My latest research tells me that the pudding is distinguished from the tart by being made with puff pastry.

Many years ago, on a tour of Scotland, my late mother went looking for a "circular bannock" hoping to bring one back as a surprise for a homesick Scottish friend living in Leeds who had actually been yearning for Selkirk Bannocks, which, to be fair, are circular.
