Not sure yet, but I hope you didn't spray that black paint over the Forestry Commission's sign.

Are you on top of a hill with a view in Surrey?

It looks kind of familiar but that might be because it looks like any other forestry commision site would.

Are you in the Gents?

I can't see any other obvious hiding place, although you could have been wearing camouflage.

It's late 1991 based on the usual clues.

The map on the left is Loch Lomond and Loch Katrine area so you are somewhere in that area - Queen Elizabeth Forest Park.

Spot on!
Rowerdennan.png

I was living in Ibrox - just along from Rangers FC - and cycled up to Rowerdennan on either a Saturday or Sunday. It was late in 1991 but I never recorded it in my diary. I know approximately when it was because of where I was living and when I had my bike up in Glasgow. I commuted through Govan, the Clyde tunnel, the Dumbarton Rd and to Scotstoun at Yarrows Shipbuilders whilst HMS Iron Duke was in build.

For the uninitiated, Rowerdennan is at the top of the road from Drymen on the east side of Loch Lomond. There is/was a cafe and hostel there and it was the main carpark for walkers climbing Ben Lomond. We owned a house in Balloch on the southern shores of Loch Lomond 10years previously and could see Ben Lomond from our living room. We climbed the Ben a couple of times - wonderful mountain, easy to climb with fantastic views.

It still looks pretty similar Mick except the toilet block in the background was replaced by a stone built version a few years ago.

A couple of clues in the picture, a triple bow string bridge and which areas used third rail electrification, southern region and Merseyside are two there may be others.
