Q: How much resistance when motor is OFF

I imagine it's pretty normal that if you are cycling above the legal limit you will feel an immediate slow down if you stop pedalling since you are no longer receiving power. That is not resistance.

If there is no overrunning clutch in the motor, aren't you just "wasting" your human power spinning the internal gearing of the motor when the motor is switched off?

I've been testing a few E-Bikes for touring and they are great. But the only downside is the speed limit cut off. And it is a cut off - you can hear the motor stop. its just your muscle power over 15.5mph. I'm not sure if its resistance except if you motor system has a gearbox ?
