Battery rebuild?

Post by nez »

Anyone rebuilt a battery or had it done? My wife has a lovely Koga e-runner which I’m borrowing since I was flattened out by a pulmonary embolism (maybe I need a rebuild). She only rides short trips so hasn’t noticed but I reckon it’ll only do 25 miles before it goes flat so I’d like to get a new battery (500 sovs!) or maybe a rebuild (more economic). Any advice?

There have been various threads on Pedelecs. I think 'recell' is the key term. eg see
http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/recelling-a-panasonic-26v-battery-or-replacement-battery.29027/#post-396947

Jimmy seems to have been recommended several times, I think he is BGA reworking but I may be wrong.

JImmy is the battery guru.
He runs three tech companies form the same premises.

He can recell an old battery with better cells and more ah/wh for around 300 sovs.

He openly say's major bike component manufacturers are ripping folks off for batteries esp likes of Bosch who want £700 for a new battery.

I had it done by Jimmy. Excellent, pain free process. He managed to update the battery from 10 to 15 Wh

Good luck finding him and getting a good recell.

There is a private message box at the top right of the forum or subforum summary page (eg viewforum.php?f=55)

I'm trying to find the person who recells batteries in Durham but can't seem to be able to send PMs to the poster who mentioned him. Thank you to anyone who can point me in the right direction.

Okay thanks but he's not doing battery rebuilds now, just bike conversions.

I think you can get a battery rebuilt here, but Torquay may be too far away for you.
