Panniers for battery rack

Post by Oldjohnw »

I have a retro fitted powered bike with the battery in a rear rack. I am not able to clip my Ortlieb bags: the clips won't close. Any suggestions for rear bags, perhaps in a pair which simple rest of the rack fastened with tapes/Velcro? I need 30-40 litres.

Basil Mara double panniers simply strap onto the rack. I like mine because they've solid floor and lower back but the front sides flex to accommodate shopping bags being dropped in. 26 litres in standard I think but there's an XL too.

With some stainless D rings and some webbing straps you should be able to make something up

Why, out of interest? And please report back to say how you find them.

Since I will be using them for camping I decided waterproof would be useful. And I liked the look of them.

Certainly I will let you know how they are - although I will not be using them until Spring. And I won't officially have them until 25 December! The Ortlieb were an early Xmas present.

My bags arrived today. Perfect fit and looking good. Size as hoped for and appear sound quality. Obviously, I haven't yet used them in anger: not until next April.
