is there such a thing as a small, discreet, lightweight speed controller

Post by nicklouse10 »

I'm trying to build a lightweight carbon bike.

I've just taken delivery of a 2000w mid drive motor by Luna Cycles. One of the main reasons I bought it was the claims of the vendor that it weighed in under 3.5KGs!

Unfortunately this doesn't include the controller which is a bulky, ugly, heavy unit (1kg) which I really don't want to have to fit to my bike.

I've done some googling but without much luck. I'd be amazed if a lighter, more compact version wasn't available

Does anyone know of anything suitable?

Looks a neat and potent (if completely illegal) unit.
They themselves advertise 40 amp 48-72v Sinewave Tiny Controller $25.00 at https://lunacycle.com/luna-deluxe-mini-cyclone-kit/
(presumably the $25 is if ordered with the unit instead of the standard controller). It's going to need a pretty hefty battery to deliver that sort of power (40 amps at 48 v), which will probably make even the big controller look small.

You will get help from others who know a lot more about it than me at https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/forums ... ussion.43/

The grintech phaserunner is the rolls royce of discreet controllers, can handle huge power with a thousand adjustable parameters to get the absolute best performance.

But its 300 bucks.
You are buying the best though.
