Battery Removal Problem - Carrera Vengeance

Postby RycBar » 5 Sep 2020, 6:20am

Hi All,
I have a Carrera Vengeance ebike and I am having a problem removing the battery from the frame.
The key inserts and turns but it does not seem to be engaging the pins to enable me to remove the battery.
The key is quite hard to insert & I have been adviced to try lubricating the key & lock mechanism.
If this does not work, does anyone have any ideas how to remove the battery?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Not quite the same issue, but pretty similar.

Two options there are drilling out the lock and trying with jiggler tools.(*such as https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lock-Jiggler-k ... B00HZIP190 )

Hi all,
Thanks for the advice. I have tried lubricating the lock with no success. Just to clarify the problem, the key inserts but just turns freely without engaging the locking pins to enable me to remove the battery?

Sounds like a cheap lock with the actuator made of cheese or coming adrift. I'd try a locksmith.

You could try putting the key in, turning the core a bit and then pulling on the key and turning: that may put enough friction on the actuator to turn it. Might not, though.

In any case, best get the lock replaced - which you already knew, of course. Good luck!
