Best Electric Bikes Under £1000?

Postby eddyb1988 » 22 Sep 2020, 12:20pm

Ok so, I tried a Ribble Electric Bike recently and loved it, BUT I don't have the budget to spend £5000+ on an electric bike from them at the moment. (one day?).

My question is this: where do I go to find a decent electric bike under 1000 quid? I've checked out a few places like Evans Cycles, Wiggle etc and a few articles too like https://www.arcticdry.co.uk/best-electric-bikes-under-1000/

However, some of the ones in that list dont look too good quality, like cheap chinese knock offs of other brands etc.

So, does anyone have experience with electric bikes around this price range, or am i stuck with the ones on Amazon?

A 1k ebike isn't going to have top end components, more like Alivio or low end group set stuff.
Some will opt for crappy cable disc brakes and cheap £50/£60 forks.
Have a look at Woosh bikes or something like the NVM Moscow.

Orbea Gain bikes use the same ebikemotion system as Ribble, and there are secondhand ones on eBay occasionally - but at around £1200-1400 for the base models. That was close enough for me to commit, and I haven't regretted it.

As ever - be sure to check the bike is in good working order, serviced, etc, and ask to try it.
