Adjusting assist sensitivity for Shimano Steps E6000

My wife has a Hase Kettwiesel trike with a Shimano Steps E6000 motor. As we were out today going, very slowly, up some steep hills in the Peak District I noticed she wasn’t getting much assist even though she had it set to high - she couldn’t get the power meter to go much more than half way. I had a go and found it easy to get full power, but then I’m a seasoned recumbent rider with well developed quads. With arthritis of the knees she just cannot apply sufficient torque to get the motor to respond. Being recumbent rather than upright does make it more difficult of course.

The question is: does anyone know if it is possible to change the relationship between applied torque from the rider and the output of the motor? Please note that this is the older E6000 motor, not the current E6100.
