A very quick question. Does the Shimano steps e8000 system have any resistance (other than weight) when pedalling at over 25km/h? I've done a bit of research and have found contradictory answers.

We’ve got two, on Scott Axis erides - lovely set up, and no resistance when you go over the assisted speed. I think people who say there is resistance are simply noticing the lack of assistance! :-)

We have one on our Hase Pino tandem and I've one on my ICE Sprint trike. No resistance from the motor over the cut-off speed (15.5 mph or thereabouts i.e. 25 kph). Plenty of resistance from the wind though.
