First Ride with my Giant Talon & BBS02

Post by ndwgolf »

Well I just completed my first ride on the new ebike. Really really enjoyed it, it’s smooth easy gear changing and I would say for 90% of the time I used power assist #3 and the remaining 10% power assist #4........... there is a total of 9 levels of power assist including throttle control if you want it.
As you can see from the charts I still had a pretty good workout because as soon as you stop peddling the motor stops.

I started just before the Thatachai check point here in Phuket Thailand and was waved through. About 3 miles later there is another COVID checkpoint before you get to the Palm hotel in Phangnga and I was waved through here as well. Returning to both of these checkpoints was the same just a Bobby waving me through. I did pass a group of 10 to 15 road bikes and got some astonishing was that that just passed us :D :D :D :D :D :D

I started off with a full battery and ended after 45 kilometres with about 50% gone......... I think I would be safe to do 75 kilometres.
All in all it was a lot of fun and to be honest I can’t ever see me riding my other 2 bikes ever again
Thanks to everyone on here who gave me help during the build
Neil

I am amazed at the position you have placed the battery . firstly having built quite a few of these i know what that battery weighs and i know just how weak the riv nuts are that are the bottle bolts bosses that you have the base plate attached to, also the weight is now quite high up on the frame, if you lose that battery on a bumpy bendy fast ride it will smash in pieces and become a fire hazard, how do i know?? i have had a couple of people that i built machines for that forgot to lock and strap the battery down securely even when it was mid on the downtube. and it flew off and smashed causing another 300 odd quid for a replacement in each case. .. Have someone put a couple of extra riv nuts in the down tube attach the base with 4 bolts on there and make up a strap which keeps it tight on the frame wrapping around the underside of the downtube .. It will then be secure no matter how bumpy it becomes and the machine will have a lower CofG.. will

Hay Will thanks for the reply. I now have 2 x 2 inch Velcro straps wrapped around it that hold it in place very securely, all of my riding is on tarmac so very smooth riding
