or even going so far as to say "doing more damage to London than almost anything since the Blitz".
So it seems, according to some opinionated public individuals:

How long will we have to put up with this idiocy? Seems Andrew Gilligan is perfectly right: 'If you want cycling improvements, you have to keep fighting for them'.
Needless to say, the comments are the usual 'mixed bag'.

Suppose that this room is a lift. The support breaks and down we go with ever-increasing velocity.

There might be other ways of fighting - I read this last night, also in the Guardian, and found it quite inspiring:
http://www.theguardian.com/cities/2016/ ... sadik-khan
Certainly a different way of addressing the issue - winning the populace over by getting them involved - reclaiming their streets - although it's hard to tell if or how it would work in London.
The book looks interesting:

As for the traffic gates to Regent's Park, they might need to watch Prince Andrew doesn't exploit his apparent immunity from prosecution...

But note "Some critics labelled Sadik-Khan “brusque” and uncompromising".
and
"People take their streets very personally. They treat every parking space like it was their first-born child. "
Which sounds very familiar from experience in London.
You need someone fairly gutsy anywhere.

The consultation for CS11, which Andrew Gilligan's excellent article linked to above refers, is closing this weekend. We need all the responses we can get. There is a local 'anti' campaign (full of lies) which has a petition of over 3,000 signatories against it - doubtless they are returning their vitriol on the consultation too.
Even if you never intend visiting London in your life, can you please support this consultation today. A quick overview, and links to the consultation are here http://regentsparkcyclists.com/how-to-r ... tion-form/
Please, please help now.
