Disappearing Membership Card

Post by Mick F »

Membership Card.jpeg
I happened to look at my CUK membership card yesterday. I keep in in my wallet with credit cards and driving licence etc.

All the writing has gone!
Rubbed off in my wallet I would think.

I know my membership number off by heart ....... it's an easy one to remember.
I'll get in touch with CUK after the Christmas break and ask for another, and also tell them that their laminated piece of cardboard with ink on it won't last a whole year ........... not even six months!

When was the last time you looked at your membership card?
Does it still have writing on it, and will it come off easily?

Merry Christmas. :D

It's a prototype renewable/transferable membership card.

Renewing your memberhsip? Just rub out the expiry date and write in the new one.

Changing your name? Just rub out your name and write in the new one.

Not renewing? Please delelte all information and return your card so we can reuse it.

Alas, the truth is more serious. I suspect you are a victim of identity theft.
Indeed, how do we know it was the real Mick F who posted this?

A happy new year to both the original and bogus Mick F!

That one is out of date, as it still says CTC. The current one says CUK. Or at least I think it does, as I can't find my 2016 membership card to check!

I still get 10% discount at Evans, if I flash them my old one.

To prevent letters rubbing off, I suggest laminating it, after signing it on receipt.

That card was issued to me in April of this year when I renewed.

I've emailed the membership department this morning and received a "holding" reply. It seems they are holiday.
You would have thought there should be someone in on a normal working day.

For the record, my own annual card is in the same style and expires end of April 2017. My membership details are not blank, just barely legible.

Email from Membership Dept.
They're sending me a new card ................. I hope it lasts.

Interesting to see if it's CUK or CTC.

New card arrived yesterday.
It's a CUK one.

I wet a finger and rubbed.
Within two seconds, the ink had come off.

I've emailed CUK again, and enclosed the photo of the two cards.
Thank you for the new membership card that arrived yesterday.
However, it has the same fault as the last one!
A couple of seconds rubbing with a damp finger, removes the writing.
Enclosed is a photograph of the old card together with the new one.
I urge you to make these cards with a laminated system so that the writing is sealed within the laminations rather than just ink on the top.

Yep.
Anything indelible would do, or anything to seal it.

I wonder if they'll send me another card just the same?

I think I'll trim an eighth of an inch off all the way round, and then put it through our laminator, then trim off to "credit card" size.
If I could do that, why can't they?
