It's a CUK one.

I wet a finger and rubbed.
Within two seconds, the ink had come off.

Deliberate act of vandalism, I don't see why you would expect a replacement card in such circumstances  .

Hi,
Everyone produces embossed credit card size members cards nowadays, well green flag and the caravan club still issue peel off ones, though ones raised printed and the others printed but neither will rub off I just tried.

CUK just needs to move on up into the 21st century.

Mind you anything in Mick F's hands is doomed, could get a job road testing bikes............maybe not

AA can produce an embossed card. So can the banks, the credit cards, and lots of other organisations.

The local library, my bus pass, my IAM membership card, driving licence may not be embossed, but they are made of sealed permanent plastic.

The CUK card is paper with a sliver of something on the top and bottom but not the edges, and is then just inked on the front. It can peel apart from the edges too.
On the reverse the writing is sealed inside the lamination and is permanent and secure. Why not the front?

Pity that the personal info isn't secure or permanent.
Cheap and nasty IMHO.

Reply, and hopefully - fingers crossed - a result.

Good morning Mick,
Thank you for your email and bringing this to our attention. I will escalate this with our suppliers and investigate further.

New card arrived yesterday.
Try as I might, the printing remains! :D

It looks like they've hoisted in what I said, and done something about it.
The front is now laminated over the printing.

Alternatively, the system they use for single/short run cards is different to the mass mailing annual renewal ones. Was it stuck to a letter like the regular ones?

I'll also note here that my membership will be coming up for renewal in May and the current card is still in good condition despite living in my wallet with a bunch of other cards, and usually about my person during waking hours, since it arrived last year.

Sorry, I wasn't clear on this.

After contacting them and getting a reply, they didn't send me another replacement card, so I was without one.

The one that arrived yesterday, was a renewal one stuck to the standard letter as normal.
It's different to the previous ones in that it's laminated on the top of the printing.

My new one has just arrived as part of the renewal notice letter and it's like Mick F's. It's a repeat of last year as that one was also sealed over the text so it looks as though there were 2 systems going then.
