DfT Walking and cycling infrastructure funding

Post by barbarap »

In Shrewsbury, a group of us are drafting a cycling network. It's worth doing anyway, but we started because of a promise of funding by the DfT for Councils to improve walking and cycling infrastructure. Our Council now tells us that the funding seems to have disappeared. Does anyone know what's happening? Thanks

The DfT has budgets to support local transport funding, these are typically the ones that encompass cycling schemes. Local authorities submit their plans to DfT and "bid" for funding. Not every bid is succesful, where bids are successful there is usually a delivery deadline to meet or funding may be withdrawn.
