OK, I admit this will affect me directly, more than some others, since I drive in France rather a lot. They are proposing to reduce the national speed limit on single-carriageway roads outside built-up areas, from 90 Km/h (56mph) to 80 Km/h (50mph). Not surprisingly, the massive French brigade of motards et automobilistes have come up in arms against this
. (link is in French but the imagery is obvious).From a cyclist's point of view, this looks like an excellent idea. After all, NSL roads which many cyclists freely use, can be some of the most dangerous. Should it be copied here? (I foresee violent ructions, for even suggesting such a thing...)
