Reducing Close Passes - A Good Initiative!

Post by Littgull »

I came across this thread on the Thorn Cycle Forum - http://thorncyclesforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=12854.0

Top marks to Bournemouth Council in trying to do something positive in terms of educating motorists of the safe passing distance.

Perhaps we could all lobby our local councils to ask for them to erect similar signs.

I have such a sticker on the back of my car
Normal drivers seem to think I am inviting them to follow at 1.5 m, I am thinking of removing it

It should read '2m minimum' at least

The same for passing traffic going the other way. If there is too little room one should stop

Cycling-of course, but it is far better on a Gillott

What has been more effective locally is putting a PC on a bike with cameras

Then dealing with teh drivers who pass closely
