Drinking fountains
Over the past 30 years or more, access to water taps where you can fill up your bottle when out cycling seems to be reducing.
I live in the East Riding of Yorkshire where I cannot point to any public drinking water fountains. Even public loos seem to be avoiding providing separate taps.

It looks like an app is available;
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/wetap-d ... 24762?mt=8
Would it be feasible for CTC to provide a map and details for areas of the UK?
Probably not the most pressing problem to think about but it would be good for every city/town and village to provide a drinking fountain. Last summer it would have been quite handy. Perhaps any in the Yorkshire region could be a starting point to mention.

Re: Drinking fountains
There are a few water bottle refill finder apps already available, e.g. https://refill.org.uk/get-the-refill-app/ and https://www.refillmybottle.com/app

Thanks gaz,
I do not have a mobile, but will enquire about the downloading apps and any side issues.
The reviews of the first link mentions the web site crashing
Second link, reviews seem much better

more transparent with the locations of the refill stations by simply putting a map on the website. As it is, this app crash...

Great app for refilling water, would be good for offline use also to allow holidaymakers that are only using WiFi to find a location.

Re: Drinking fountains
knock on someone's door and ask for a fill, done this loads of times, never had an issue. Never had a problem taking water from a tap in a public toilet and now with the law requiring PHs to offer tap water for free even less need for fountains in a village unless you've planned badly for a long night time run in the back and beyond.
In any case I don't remember that many water fountains when I was a child in the 70s/80s in the east riding, not saying we shouldn't have them mind and in London there seems to be a resurgence. https://ciwm-journal.co.uk/londons-firs ... announced/

Re: Drinking fountains
Fountains are shown on www.OpenStreetMap.org and if you know one that's not, it's not too difficult to edit the map and add it.

Thanks for the feedback.
Many loos seem to mixer taps that would be difficult to fill a bottle from or dispensers/soap/water/air. The London plans seem to the right approach. The Open Space map took me to Japan, nothing came up for the UK or London or Yorkshire.

Always get my bottle filled at the local pub whilst I am sampling some of their other refreshments!

Re: Drinking fountains
The risk factor for cycling and drinking is probably more than 2 but life is often about enjoyment and moderate drinking I expect.

Do you mean Open Street Map? You may have to use a map icon search tool (the one on the main site is good for names, not icon types) and search smaller areas than those to avoid getting too many results. Here's a search showing some in Leeds:
https://searchosm.com/?&cat=water&north ... t=-1.51568
But it's incomplete, so please add any you know not shown.
