More cycling? Less motoring? Vote now please!
One often hears and reads experts calling for "more cycling", I suspect they usually mean they favour trips being transferred/upgraded from motor to cycle. It would be great if they used a few more words to make this clear
Or do they mean bus/train/walk -> cycle upgrade, or new trips altogether?
Big cycling events often involve TDC, the tragedy of drive-cycling, one might drive 200 miles to cycle 100

Can't answer it properly.
I think it's impossible were we live except for Yes even with TDC ........ so I ticked that.

What's going to happen with the results? If nothing, then it's a waste of time, as it's a case

Depends what the results are, I was pleased with my porridge poll, confirmed my prejudices
I certainly do not want more people cycling in the quiet areas where I like to ride, last weekend there was a bit of sun, had to alert a couple of groups of riders going the other way so they singled out, danger of danger
Likewise in town, until there is a lot more space, taken from motors of course
..
More walking might be good, very few people walk from A to B, even 2-3 km

Top Dead Centre isn't it? The point where you adjust the tappet space on your engine, usually a few degrees before TDC.

To a cyclist it means T D Cross (Thomas D Cross) a maker of headsets and bottom brackets a few decades ago.

Hi,
Probably ignition timing, but some motors have unusual non tdc clearance check.

Seem to remember using a dial gauge on my CB175 many years (decades! ) ago for this - or would it have been for the timing with the points? Ugh, points!

Re: More cycling? Less motoring?
Hi,
I had a CB175 too
They had timing marks on crank rotor and cam for chain, so I don't think you ever needed a DTI.
A strobe would be needed pointing at the crank rotor IIRC for better timing, but just manual set up was normally ok.
I still have the manual so I might take a peek.
Yep got the manual, strobe as I tried it, was a waste of time, wet sump meant that if you ran the engine with the rotor cover off you got a eyeful of oil mist
Blew off my mates starfire he did not like that, he tuned the engine and it would rattle even more.
Wasn't the fact that his bike was british it was more being left behind by a smaller bike.

I suggest TTDC for The tragedy of drive-cycling, to avoid confusion

Re: More cycling? Less motoring?
I'm not sure how it can be a tragedy. If taking your bike by car means you can get to pleasant cycling country then why is this a tragedy?
