Cargo bike subsidies here/coming

Postby thelawnet » 6 Apr 2019, 5:08pm

You can get 20% of the cost of an ecargo bike, up to £1k, paid by the government. For use by businesses only.

The sum involved is a pittance - £2m.

But gets a few more bikes onto the road

Meanwhile in London Bridge businesses are being paid to switch to bikes (not necessarily electric) for delivering stuff

Theyve now cut the £5k electric car subsidies which were available to people buying luxury Teslas and what not, to £3500, but it is apparently too much to ask that while they've spent over a billion quid on e-car and e-van subsidies, that perhaps there should be a decent sized subsidy on personal ebike purchases.

Perhaps it is the perceptions and a certain level of misunderstanding?

My (unevidenced) opinion is that the ligisksyors (legislators) percieve “Cargo” as a business function and failed to realise the full potential of cargo bikes ( AND trikes)
