Another sad reflection of the contempt that cyclists are held in both by the police who were very slow to investigate and the subsequent judicial system.

In crown court it's 5 years so despite the heinousness of the incident, despite the driver taking off and not handing themselves in they've got a third of the maximum tariff  CPS should have charged with GBH S20 AND dangerous driving, that would have raised the tariff significantly. But as we know the CPS are weak as ####!
The lies/excuses by the defence should have been slammed by the judge, also two weeks isn't some random period before handing yourself in, gives you enough time for any drugs to be out the system.

Alliston got 18months when braking/slowing as well as making deliberate attempts to completely avoid and is charged with manslaughter initially but still gets another serious charge and is stitched up with a dodgy bit of 'evidence' from the MET as well as the usual media frenzy and hatred toward people on bikes. He was also slammed for going on social media to plead his innocence and for the fact he still believed he was not at fault, oh and having a demon speed machine and tattoos  .
That the driver in this case gets 20 months yet again proves how people on cycles that are charged with offences are discriminated against, on top of the fact that as victims, police, CPS and judges also discriminate in terms of protection and motorists get off ass lightly as possible, 20 months is an insult given the facts!

The legal system letting an innocent victim well and truly down, though the driver got 20 months he will be out and free in < 12 months probably and ready to try and kill someone again. The only way to hit them where it hurts the most is money wise, sue for every penny you can get out of them and try and hit them hard in the pocket with hopefully court costs.
